You see, a lot of things are running around in my mind. I’ve got to finish this revision of my novel, which is hard enough to do without an attention-starved parrot trying to hide inside my desk when he thinks I’m not looking. I’ve let myself let that slide too many times because I decided to spend my writing time working on blog posts instead. Sure they’re fun, but they’re only fun for me, and this book is supposed to be something real.
But I can’t very well have two Vocab 128 posts in a row. That might give people the wrong idea about what this blog is all about, if by some strange stroke of chance they should actually read it. I need a stopgap. This is that stopgap.
Even writing this little post was a struggle. I wanted to knock it out quickly before I went to bed. It ended up taking two hours because I also wanted to watch The Naked Gun with Ariele (the original, not the new one with Liam Neeson, though we’re going to watch that one later probably) because she’s never seen it, and what was I going to do, take my eyes off the screen and miss a single second of Leslie Nielsen giving the performance of a lifetime?
I schedule these posts for the weekends, but I’m writing this one on a Tuesday night. The rest of this week, writing time has got to be spent on the book, the book, and the book. And while I’m at it, I need to focus on my reading too, not just my writing. I’m supposed to be finishing Henry IV Part 1, and not just playing Hollow Knight while trying to keep my parrot from sneaking into my desk while both my hands are occupied.
Hollow Knight is incredible though. I know I’m late to the party and every one is all about Silksong nowadays, but this is how I roll.
Henry IV is also incredible, though. I’m even later to the party on that one, but that is hardly my fault, as it was written almost 400 years before I was born.
So that’s all you get this weekend. That and another Vocab 128 post tomorrow. There’s only a few more of those, so enjoy them while they last.
